There was no direct train service from Prayagraj to Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. Direct trains were running from here to Muri and Udhampur for Jammu. Now Jammu Mail is running till the shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi. Now the operation of this train has started from Delhi to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra.

On Thursday, MP Praveen Singh Patel flagged off the Jammu Mail train going to Maa Vaishno Devi Dham from Subedar Railway Station. On this occasion, Mayor Umesh Chandra Ganesh Kesarwani and regional MLA and former minister Siddharth Nath Singh along with ADRM Sanjay Kumar Singh were also present. Preparations were going on for several days to run the train. The MP and the other two public representatives flagged off the train at 10.35 am. This train will reach Katra on the second day i.e. Friday at 9.15 am.

Two months ago, the Railway Board had approved the extension of this train till Subedarganj.
On the first day, only 66 passengers left by this train. All of them got berths in the train from Tatkal quota. In a program organized at Subedarganj Railway Station, MP Praveen Patel said that now people will be able to reach Katra Railway Station directly. People will no longer have to get down at Jammu. On this occasion, Mayor Ganesh Kesarwani shared his old experiences.
